Fundi Bots promotes improved, practical science education in African schools through a diverse range of programs and services, each of which is tailored to the specific need of the target community or beneficiaries. Our Curriculum & Schools Program Pillar encompasses all activities that take place within the primary and secondary school environment and have a direct to classroom subject matter or skills development for both students and teachers.
The Robotics & STEM training program provides hands-on training in robotics, STEM and ICT for students in schools to improve understanding of school curriculum and to extend learning beyond the classroom (providing skills-training and future career development).
This program forms the core of our work and creates an implementation foundation for all the other programs within Fundi Bots.
The School Outreach Program focuses on providing awareness, knowledge, resources and training and resources at the school level and includes: hands-on robotics training workshops, speaker presentations, science project assistance, career guidance and skills development.
The School Outreach schedules are flexible and are primarily determined by the school’s time-table.
The Fundi Bots Enhanced Science Curriculum is designed to be directly embedded within the national curriculum. It involves the development of modules, teaching aids and practical learning tools for teachers and students. Together, these improve student engagement and pedagogical delivery.
The Enhanced Science Curriculum is currently undergoing pilot testing in 11 schools with 16 teachers and 2,200 students.
The Teacher Training program ( training of trainers) creates access for teachers across Uganda to improve their ICT skills and pedagogy by introducing additional teaching aids in the classroom, radically transforming content delivery in classrooms.
This program works in collaboration with the Enhanced Science Curriculum and the Robotics and STEM training program.
The Integrated School Program is designed to explore science education beyond the standard curriculum material. It can be run either as a special science club or as a subject unit for schools. This program is the only Schools & Curriculum program we charge a fee for.
The program becomes a core part of the school time-table during normal schools hours.
Fundi Girls is an equity-focused program that aims to increase classroom engagement and bring more girls into STEM / science fields by intentionally engaging more girls and women and providing increased resources, training and exposure where necessary.
Fundi Girls operates both as a stand-alone program and as a thread of intentionality that runs through all our work.
