The “Fundi @ Work” program is a 6-month training program that provides fast-track, student-focused, practical skills-training, mentorship and job placement for marginalized youth.
Fundi @Work builds on our strong track record of using robotics training as a foundation for accelerating and diversifying science learning for university students. Over the past three years, we’ve had three internship programs that have trained and changed the lives of hundreds of university students. These students consistently profess that they’ve learned more from two months of in-depth, practical learning with us than three years of theoretical learning at (Ugandan) universities.
Our internship program uses robotics as a foundation for learning but includes soft skills training, work-place engagement, technical skills training, and entrepreneurship training, all of which lead up to a final, functional project that addresses a specific community need in different sectors.
Fundi @Work will amplify this effort, experience, and impact and channel it towards out-of-school youth between the ages of 15 and 25 who have dropped out of school either in primary school or secondary school and who are unable to continue to attain university education.
The Fundi @Work Program is a radical shift from traditional skills-development programs that provide only basic, low-level skills without learning quality. Our goal is to create a highly efficient learning methodology and pathway that:
